General Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any minimum age for children to ice skate?

The minimum age for children is 3 and above. Children between 3-5 years old will need a parent/guardian with a paid admission ticket to accompany them on ice.

What is the smallest and biggest skate boots size you have?

Our smallest skate boots is size Euro 24 and biggest skate boots is size Euro 47. 

Do you have lockers to keep our personal belonging?

Yes, we do have lockers available at The Rink’s premises at a non-refundable, one-time usage fee of $2. Alternatively, you may rent our lockers at $50/month or $45/month (for 6 months rental & above).

It is my first time ice skating, what should I wear?

We recommend you to wear long sleeve top, and long pants to stay warm and prevent injuries. Gloves & socks are compulsory to keep yourself warmth and prevent cuts. Wear thick calf socks to prevent abrasion from the skate boots (ankle socks are not recommended).

Do you think I need to rent a skating aid as it is my first time ice skating?

Yes, it is recommended to rent a skating aid. Our skating aids aim to assist you with balancing properly on ice, enabling you to practice your skating skills.

What is the difference between penguin, snowman and seal skating aids?

Penguin skating aids ($11 for 2-hour) are designed for children below 1.2m height and below 10 years old to help assist with their first steps onto the ice.

Snowman skating aids ($11 for 2-hour) are suitable for older children (above 10 years old) and adults.

Seal skating aids ($15 for 2-hour) are suitable for older children (above 10 years old) and adults, meant for 2 persons. 

What are the dos and don’ts on ice?

DO’s

  1. Store your valuables in the lockers. (Non-refundable fee of $2 per locker)
  2. Ensure that your skate boots are fastened properly
  3. Please enter and leave the ice rink via the gates at all times
  4. Keep off the ice rink and stay behind the barriers during ice-resurfacing sessions
  5. Skate in an anti-clockwise direction to prevent collision with other skaters
  6. Protect your head if you fall. Alternatively, you can rent a helmet for $5 per 2-hour
  7. Please be considerate to beginner skaters
  8. Approach our friendly crew in blue polo tee should you require any assistance

DON’Ts

  1. Do not skate if you are pregnant
  2. Do not carry young children or babies while skating on ice surface
  3. Do not skate under the influence of alcohol, drugs or when you are feeling unwell
  4. Do not carry bags while skating as it may affect your balance. Do not carry any sharp objects when skating
  5. Do not use mobile phones or music players while skating on ice. You can leave them in a locker. (Non-refundable fee of $2 per locker)
  6. Do not skate at excessive speed
  7. Do not jump, push or spin while on ice
  8. Do not litter or throw objects on ice
  9. Do not deface or dig holes on the ice surface
  10. Do not conduct unauthorized coaching (remote/online/video assisted) within The Rink.
  11. Do not exceed the skating duration of 2 hours
  12. Playing any forms of games, illegal or dangerous stunts during public skating sessions other than those approved by The Rink is prohibited

Once I enter the admission gantry, can I leave the premise and re-enter again?

Each admission ticket allows for one-time entry into The Rink. If you exit and would like to re-enter again, you will have to pay for another admission ticket at $14 for adult and $12 for child.

What are the differences between Party package, Corporate package and Broomball On Ice package?

Pay-as-you-Skate

What is Pay-As-You-Skate?

Pay-As-You-Skate allows you to skate for 2-hrs within your selected time slot. Strictly no extension is allowed for any late comers.

How is Pay-As-You-Skate charged?

Normal admission fees apply for first 2-hours.

Adult admission: $14; subsequent 1-30mins: $3.50

Kid admission: $12; subsequent 1-30mins: $3

How do I know my start and end times for skating sessions?

Start and end times are registered when you scan in at the ticketing gantry, and is valid for 2 hours.

What if I exceed the given time limit?

If you exceed the given time limit of 2 hours, you will have to top up an additional $3.50 for adults and $3 for kids for the first 30 minutes at our Customer Service Counter. However, due to the limited capacity The Rink no longer allows extension of admission tickets.

Where can I make payment if I exceed the time limit?

The payment of $3.50 for adults and $3 for kids for every 30 minutes can be made at our Customer Service Counter.

What are the modes of payment accepted in The Rink?

From 1 April 2021, The Rink is officially going cashless. We accept NETS, PayWave (Visa/Mastercard/Unionpay & AMEX), Paylah or Ez-Link card only.

Learn-to-Skate

How do I choose which class to join?

LTS is offered to adults and children. The class ratio is 1 coach/ instructor to every 10 skaters.

The Learn-to-Skate (LTS) programme comprises of *Kids Learn-to-Skate (2 levels), Basic Core Blades for Beginners (4 levels), and Advanced Learn-to-Skate for Figure Skating (4 levels), Speed Skating (6 levels), and Ice Hockey (2 levels).

Kids from age 3 to 5 years old can join Our Kids Learn-to-Skate lessons programme that will be suitable for them. Beginner skaters (for age 6 & above) are encouraged to join the Basic Core Blades group classes. Intermediate skaters can advance to specialized lessons in their chosen ice sport (Figure, Speed, or Hockey). Read more here.

What are the age and fitness requirements for learning ice skating?

Skaters must be at least 6 years of age to join the classes. Prior skating experience is not required. For those looking to kick-start their fitness programme, you can also benefit from the Learn-to-Skate courses. You can learn to ice skate as long as you are physically healthy. Do inform your coach if you have any pre-existing health conditions and alert him/her of any unusual discomfort during classes.

What is the enrolment procedure, and what are included in the fees?

Enrollment is only available online.

Please enroll 72 hours prior to the start of the lesson, enrollment is accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. Term schedules that can be found on the lessons page.

  • Subsidized fees are applicable for School CCA programme. You may get your school CCA/PE HOD to contact us.

Do I need my own skates and gear?

Rental skate boots are inclusive in our LTS package. Hockey and Speed gears are not provided for advanced LTS.

Where can I find the schedule for each term?

The schedule for current and upcoming terms can be found on each of the lessons pages.

Am I eligible for make up lessons if I missed my class?

Yes, you are entitled for a make-up class if you’ve missed a class due to medical condition. Please email us a copy of your medical certificate in order to arrange the make-up class. Make-up classes are subject to approval and availability of lesson.

Am I eligible for refund if I am unable to make it for class?

All payments made for Group lessons are non-refundable, non-transferable and non-replaceable.

Are there any charges for accompany adults?

Accompanying adults will need to pay a $4 admission fee (1 accompanying adult per child) if their child is attending Indvidual Lesson or the Learn-t0-Skate Group Classes (LTS/ Holiday Ice Camp/ Advance Figure/ Advance Ice Hockey/ Advance Speed Skating).

Do you conduct an ice skating camp during school holidays?

Yes, holiday intensive courses are available during school holiday periods in March, June, September, and November-December. The intensive ice camp is open to Basic Core Blades level only.  It consists of 4 x 45mins daily lesson (instead of 5 x 30mins weekly lesson).

Do you have an ice skating programme for School CCA?

Yes. Schools may book Learn-to-Skate as a CCA at a subsidized rate of only $107 per skater per term (usual price $171.20) for Basic Core Blades, and Advanced LTS at $134 per skater per term (usual price $214).

A minimum of 10 students sign up per school is required in order to enjoy the subsidized rate.

How do I know if I am eligible to for Individual Lessons?

Everyone can sign up to Individual Lessons for a more focused session.

How do I book my Individual Lessons?

Individual Lessons can only be booked through The Rink’s customer service counter at least 3 days in advance and subjected to availability. Alternatively, you can refer to the public skating calendar for individual lesson schedule. Do note that Individual Lessons are priced at $74 per 30-minute lesson with 2-hour admission fee.

Can I request for a particular coach for my Individual Lessons?

Yes, you can request for a particular coach. (Subject to coach’s availability)

How many Individual Lessons can I book?

You may book up to 10 Individual Lesson slots in one transaction. All bookings are subject to availability, on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Individual Lessons schedule can be found on our Public Skating Schedule. All bookings must be made at least 3 days in advance.

What if I am unable to attend the Individual Lesson after the payment and booking with coach?

Rescheduling of lesson can be done directly with your coach in advance, and subjected to your coach’s availability.

Are there any refund provided if I am unable to attend the Individual Lesson after I made the payment?

All payment made for Individual lessons are non-refundable, you may reschedule the lesson directly with your coach in advance, and subjected to your coach’s availability.

Can I engage a personal coach for lessons or training, apart from The Rink’s list of coaches?

All personal coaching, teaching or any form of training, without the prior approval and or agreement with The Rink, is not permitted. Only NROC certified coaches, contracted by The Rink or approved by SISA and SIHA, are eligible to carry out coaching programmes, training and or winter sports related activities at The Rink.

What qualifications do the coaches at The Rink hold?

All listed coaches are contracted by The Rink and are NROC (provisional or full) certified. Only coaches contracted by The Rink are permitted to conduct coaching, teaching and or training sessions, programmes or lessons, group or individual, at The Rink.

UPDATED Safe Management Measures

What is The Rink's opening hours like?

The Rink’s Public Skating schedule will be updated regularly. Skaters are encouraged to check out our schedule on our website before coming down to The Rink. The Rink’s opening hours will remain at 10.30am daily.

What are the measures that The Rink will be taking to ensure the safety of skaters and visitors?

Aligning with the government’s measures, The Rink will have in place the following:

The facility will undergo periodic cleaning with disinfectant solution, hand soaps will be made available in all washrooms and skate boots will be sanitised frequently to ensure hygiene.

Learn-to-Skate Group Lessons

– All group lessons will be kept at 10 students to a coach. Mask-wearing is optional (on/off ice).

Private Group Lessons (minimum group size of 4 pax and maximum group size of 8 pax)

Online Ticket Sales

What is available for purchase online?

The following are available for online purchase:

  • Standard public skating tickets (Skates rental and skating aids can be purchased directly at our Customer Service Counter).
  • Learn-to-Skate Lessons

Can I purchase tickets/lessons in advance?

Ticket sales are launched every Friday and Sunday 12 noon. Tickets may be purchased at least one day in advance for public skating sessions.

1) Ticket sales for Saturdays & Sundays will be opened on every Friday 12noon
2) Ticket sales for Mondays to Fridays will be opened on every Sunday 12noon

When can I use the tickets purchased online?

Tickets purchased online can only be used on your selected date and time of visit. No extension or  re-scheduling allowed unless it is due to medical conditions.

Is there a minimum number of tickets I need to purchase per transaction?

Customers are encouraged to buy a maximum of 5 admissions per day.

Can I refund after purchase?

Skaters are reminded to check that they have met all eligibility conditions before they make any purchase of admission tickets online as there are no cancellations or refunds of admission tickets shall be entertained. Rescheduling of admission tickets can be made upon submisssion of your medical letter/ medical certificate for verification purposes (subject to management approval).

Is there a time frame to complete our transaction?

Each transaction has to be completed within 30-minutes, otherwise transaction will expire and be considered incomplete.

I did not receive an email Confirmation Voucher for my online admission tickets purchase , what do I do?

Upon successful payment, you may visit The Rink earlier before the start of your scheduled session to retrieve your confirmation voucher at The Rink’s Customer Service Counter. You may provide the email address that you used to purchase the online tickers for verification purposes.
